R2 and Friends

Written in a log cabin in the Scandinavian mountains, this multi award winning album ‘Wood Works’ was created by the earthy and beautiful sounding Danish String Quartet.

The four musicians spent a week in the Danish Countryside arranging and recording a handful of their favourite tunes. The setup was simple : they had no recording label, no long term plan and they barely managed to cover the costs via a crowdfunding campaign. Following the completion of the recording, they sent it to Dacapo Records who liked what they heard. Woodworks became a reality!

It has since been performed on television and radio programmes in several countries and Starbucks are currently rotating the album in their coffee shops. There is even talk about using the music on the soundtrack to a Nordic-themed computer game.

Never before have folk tunes been brought to life so fervently through the medium of the string quartet. From haunting, soaring melodies to feet tapping, dance worthy tunes, this evening of music making promises to be a moment in life that you will never forget.

R2 are honored to be performing this concert with world renowned artists Michael Gurevich and Emily Nebel.
